Summer is upon us. Woo-hoo!! Come on, Everybody cha-cha-cha!
Summer ushers in feel-good emotions. This season is full of entertaining activities and laidback chill moments. Summer has always been important to me, because most of my life has been structured around the academic calendar. Although there was a very short stretch of time when I didn’t have kids and I worked in the corporate sector, the majority of my life has followed the school year calendar. I was either a kid in school, or a parent of kids in school, or a teacher in school. Summer always represented a break from the grueling schedules of education. Nowadays, I am retired and all my family have completed their schoolin’, but, still, summer draws me in. It's the time of year when we can take a deep collective breath and exhale slowly. Even if I'm busy, most of my summer busy-ness is self imposed, not required. The vibe is relaxed and possibilities are open. Right now, it’s not a summer vacation from school, but it’s SUMMER VACATION, nonetheless.
As such, my Summer License Plate game has begun. It started 25 years ago when my kids were young. I introduced The License Plate game to see if we could spot cars with license plates for all 50 states. (Not to be confused with my quest to visit all 50 states. Different, very different.) No one else in my family cares, but I have continued to play my License Plate Game every summer on my own. I start the game on Memorial Day weekend in May and finish on Labor Day weekend in September. It’s been a few years since I have checked off all 50 license tags, but I’m hoping for success this year. I am running a bit free and loose with my rules this time. I was in Hawaii a few weeks ago, and even though it didn’t fall within my regular game timeframe, I decided to check off Hawaii plates because of all the cars I saw there during our weeklong vaca. Think that's cheating? Sue me. My game, my rules to break.
As you can see, I am just getting started on my License Plate Game board.
This summer we have a lot on our plate. I can’t wait to experience it and then tell you all about it. Kicking things off, I went a little silly. Or a lot silly. Deep in the middle of a night when I couldn’t sleep, I concocted a list of silly keyboard faces on my phone. I just knew you would be dying to see them. So, without further ado, here they are:

Ok, that's all. I'm done. Thanks for scrolling through my silliness. Even though our weather has been a bit lousy lately, I'm definitely getting into summer mode. Enjoying the easy vibe. Thinking about the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Ready for anything.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who can't sleep in the middle of the night, but rarely am I as creative with my overnight time as you are.

T/A, you can make it-- the end is near!!! Full disclosure - just started seeing a sleep assessment doctor and she is scolding me for middle of the night phone shenanigans, blue lights and melatonin suppression and all. Now I'm trying hard to leave the phone alone when I can't sleep, but it ain't easy.

Wynne, sometimes sleep seems so unnecessary when there are so many interesting things to think about and do! Well, I know that's not true. But sometimes I just can't turn it off, lol. Hope your summer gets off to a fabulous start.
